This is not a (warp) pipe: Magritte Meets Mario PDF subversive cross stitch pattern - instant download (video game vs Modern art parody)
Since the time of cave paintings, humans have almost certainly argued about the meaning and purpose of "art". It is probably the most debated and unresolved topic of philosophy. Is graffiti art? Are political cartoons art? Soup labels? What about video games?
Then to take the question even further, what's the difference between "arts" and "crafts"? Is it just that "crafts" are things traditionally done by women? This pattern asks all of these questions with a knowing smirk by mashing up "high art" (absurdist icon Renee Magritte's "The Treachery of Images" and "low art" (Super Mario Brothers) and rendering it all in Fiber Art (counted cross stitch.)
This will be perfect for the gamer/art history buff/philosopher/feminist in your life. Come to think of it, why did I make a pattern at such a narrow span of appeal? Why, to amuse myself of course. Hopefully it amuses you too.
My sample is shown stitched on 14ct aida with two strands, displayed in a frame and mat with a 6x6 opening.
