Sir Nutmeg Squeakington, from his Saint Chattering's Day Speech:

Hark, my brave squirrels! Today, we stand not upon the green boughs of some distant forest, but here, amidst our very heartwood, beside the bounty that sustains us through the lean moons! Aye, these humble acorns, they may seem but simple fare to the uninitiated, to the fat, lazy pigeons and the lumbering, oblivious deer. But to us, they are life itself! They are the promise of spring, the warmth of winter's hearth, the very future of our bushy-tailed kin!

And now, look ye! Upon the horizon, I see the twitching noses and greedy eyes of the Long-Tails, the Shadow-Paws, the very vermin who would pilfer our hard-won treasure! They think us weak, perhaps? They see our small stature and believe our hearts match our size? They are wrong!

For in each of us beats the heart of a warrior! In each paw, the grip of a seasoned climber! In each flick of our tail, the spirit of defiance! We may be few, but we are fierce! We may be small, but our cause is mighty! We fight not for land, nor for glory, but for that which is rightfully ours! For the sustenance of our families! For the very survival of our clan!

He who has no acorn today shall gnaw upon bark tomorrow! He who flees now shall face the scorn of his kin forevermore! But he who stands with me, he who fights with tooth and claw, he shall feast tonight like a king upon the finest nutmeat! He shall be remembered in the chattering tales of our young!

So stand firm, my brothers! Let the rustling of the leaves be our battle cry! Let the sharpness of our teeth be our swords! Let the speed of our leaps be our shield! For today, we defend not just acorns, but our honor! We defend our home! We defend our lives!

For the Great Oak and the Mighty Nut! Charge!

Model stitch is worked on 18ct dye-sublimation printed aida in a 6x8 frame (the frame is simulated but the stitching is real)
